K-Lab Achievement Briefing Seminar and Handover Signing Ceremony

On 14 December 2020, the fifth year of K-LAB Achievement Briefing Seminar was held at the University of Information Technology (UIT). K-LAB is a project supported by Korean MSIT (Ministry of Science and ICT) and dedicated to the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA), which was operated in cooperation with UIT in Myanmar, TIDE Institute and the Korea Engineers Alliance. Starting with the opening ceremony on 18 November 2016, the project members of both countries have been active in K-LAB for five years until 2020.

During the project, K-LAB supported the training program such as Digital Fabrication Workshop, Maker Mentoring, and Entrepreneurship Training, and held events such as Make-A-Thon, Maker Fair, and Startup Support Center for Myanmar young students to promote digital manufacturing culture and revitalize the startup ecosystem in Myanmar.

Also, K-LAB has strengthened its competence in the Maker field by organizing Lab Managers Training for UIT faculty to share their knowledge of laboratory management, training configuration and equipment maintenance.

The K-LAB Achievement Briefing Seminar was held online and offline with Korean MSIT (Ministry of Science and ICT) and NIPA (National IT Industry Promotion Agency), Ministry of Education, Myanmar and Rector, Professors from UIT to announce the results of the past five years of K-LAB operational support projects. This event, which was held in both Korea and Myanmar at the same time, was conducted in compliance with preventive measures against COVID-19 and was also broadcast online to minimize the number of onsite participants.

On this event, Dr. Thein Win, Director General of Ministry of Education in Myanmar, and Ms. Kim Yeonjin, Director of Ministry of Science and ICT in Korea, extended congratulatory remarks. Dr. Saw Sanda Aye, Rector of University of Information Technology, and Mr. Kim Taeyeol, Vice President of National IT Industry Promotion Agency, delivered the message that she would work towards the ongoing operation and management of the K-LAB.

K-LAB Achievement Briefing Seminar was concluded with a signing ceremony for the K-LAB transfer agreement between UIT and NIPA.
