Design and Concepts for Building a Modern Computing System (Capstone Project)

Course Description

This course provides the students with the ability to carry out the basic infrastructure with a view to developing appropriate investigation strategies in the light of emerging digital technologies and to come out of a creative idea for preparing in their further studies. In this course, two parts: implementing a modern high-performance computing system as a group project and writing a proposal. Regarding the project, a detailed elementary knowledge of setting up the basic computing infrastructure, system design and concepts are provided. The implementation of cloud infrastructure is based on the open-source cloud computing software such as cloudstack, ONTAP, NetApp, VMware, … and simulator or emulator. In writing a proposal, the basic guidelines and a paper template are provided. Based on each student’s interest, a degree term paper must be submitted in a specific time.

The aims of this course are:

  • To explain about the basic requirements for setting up an infrastructure.
  • To have the experience in the implementation of infrastructure by teamwork.
  • To discuss about how to write a proposal.
