Course Description

Business English is the type of English used in Business contexts, such as international trade, commerce, finance, insurance, banking and many office settings. It entails expectations of clarity, particularly vocabulary and grammatical structures. It also helps students who want to succeed in business and need to know how to write more productively.

The objectives are:

  • to enhance the four key language components: reading, listening, speaking and writing in Business English
  • to know the techniques of writing in Business English
  • to apply it effectively in their respective fields
  • to have a better communication in Business using English

Teaching English Grammar in Use is useful for some more advanced students who have problems with grammar and need a book for reference and practice. This book helps the students with the grammar that they find difficult.

The objectives are:

  • to develop students insight into the structure of English Language
  • to enable the students to assimilate the patterns of the language

Academic writing refers to a style of expression that researchers use to define the intellectual boundaries of their disciplines and their specific areas of interest. It is assumed that students have already reached a sufficient level of English to write a research paper, thesis, or dissertation.

The objectives are:

  • to identify reasons to research writing projects
  • to outline the steps of the research writing process

Intended Learning Outcomes

Upon the successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

  • enhance knowledge in Business English.
  • understand the techniques of writing in Business English and apply it effectively in their respective fields
  • know the ways to improve communication at workplace.
  • develop the confidence to use English in a real business environment and improve key skills for a range of real world business situations including interviews, meetings, problem solving and team projects.
  • understand mistakes, rules and the ways to correct them.
  • get much information and knowledge of advanced grammar and use it correctly in writing.
  • improve general research and writing skills.
  • help the students generate excellent research paper in terms of English.
